How to Download a Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations OneBox Virtual Machine

In case you need additional D365FO environments for demo or development purposes besides the Cloud-hosted environments, Microsoft also makes it very easy to deploy an on-premises D365FO OneBox development instance by offering a downloadable virtual hard disk (VHD) from the LCS Shared Asset Library.

  1. Go to the LCS https://lcs.dynamics.com/ main page and select Shared asset library

  3. Find the VHD you are looking for based on the desired Finance and Operation version. The VHD is divided into multiple file parts that you need to download. For example, the asset files that start with "VHD - 10.0.9". There are sixteen different files you needed to install version 10.0.9.

  6. This creates a local VHD file that you can use to run a local virtual machine. You will need at least 115 GB of disk free space.
