Dynamics 365 Business Application Platform

Over the past year the Dynamics 365 team has focused on the planning and delivery of the Business Application Platform. These efforts bring together application and analytic capabilities of platforms such as Dynamics CE (CRM), Dynamics AX, Power BI, Power Apps and Flow. With the initial release in March of 2018 of the Common Data Service 2.0 for transactional apps and announcements related to Common Data Service 2.0 for analytics, we have steadily been releasing both product and platform enhancements.

New Features and Capabilities

Efforts around the platform have brought much change such as; the new Common Data Model for CDS 2.0, OOB integrations between CDS for Apps and CDS for Analytics, more connectors for apps and analytics, expanded Power Apps and Flow capabilities as well as a common data storage layer between Power Apps for CDS and Customer Engagement with integration support for Finance and Operations.

Above and Beyond Dynamics 365

CDS 2.0 and the Business Application Platform provide much more than the ability to build applications within the Dynamics 365 environment. You can build canvas based, model based and advanced analytic applications that leverage, integrate and participate with Office 365, Azure and other 3rd party on-prem, cloud hosted applications, services and portals.

Introducing the Dynamics 365 Health Accelerator

The Dynamics 365 has prioritize going beyond extendible applications and horizontal platform features. We have focused dedicated resources to enable ISVs, Partners and developers alike to rapidly build applications based on Microsoft provided and supported industry focused accelerators.

The Dynamics 365 Health Accelerator is the first of such accelerators and is based on the FHIR HL7 3.0 specification. The Health Accelerator is a collaborative effort including but not limited to, the Dynamics 365 CDS, ISV Success, CDM, Connector and Analytic teams, the Microsoft Health Vertical, Marketing, OCP and industry ISVs, SIs and Partners.

Inspire 2018 represents the initial release of the Health Accelerator which provides:

  • Common Data Model for Health, including entity definitions & relationships

  • OOB Customer Engagement Forms such as Patient, Practitioner, Related person and more, which can be leveraged or enhanced

  • OOB UCI Application to provide a sampling of what is possible

  • Support for building Power App Canvas and Model Driven Applications

  • Support to extend the model (new entities, forms, relationships) as need to meet your business needs

  • Support for Analytics

  • Installable AppSource solution for CDS 2.0

  • Next we will be looking at enabling AI scenarios and providing a baseline for doing AI on Dynamics 365 Accelerators

Next Let's Take a Look at the Health Accelerator

  • Download the Health Accelerator from AppSource Here.
  • Get more details on the Health Accelerator please check out this post Here
  • Review Alysa Taylor's initial post about the Microsoft & Dynamics 365 accelerator investments Here.

Summary

Microsoft and the Dynamics 365 team are dedicated to enabling ISVs, Partners and customers to build and focus their efforts in vertical industries in a streamlined approach. The accelerators will help provide a uniform platform for those who wish to connect, embed or extend the Dynamics 365 platform.

We look forward to your questions and feedback as we continue to grow this and other accelerators.

Hi Michael, is there any way through which i can connect to the healthcare accelerator using API/Microsoft flow to create Hospital scenarios like creating Appointment, procedures remotely into the accelerator but using third party UI ?

Can the healthcare accelerator and/or Dynamics 365 platform be "white-labeled" to reflect a specific hospital/clinic/etc. rather than the Microsoft branding? Thanks!

Tried to get it installed for a potential client for demo, used an Office/PowerApps/D365 CE trial tenant with no success. Does not look to be working at the moment.

Any alternative sources to get the latest 2.x version to play with?

Curious if anyone already uses this and if there are case studies available.

    Hi!

Are there any proven records of usage of Healthcare accelerator available? It looks like the add-on is still under development. Cannot find any other references, except to communities.

One of my customer has interested in this product, but they want to know if this app has been implemented anywhere with success.
