the difference between the Inventory statuses and batch disposition codes

Hello,

I was wondering about the difference between the Inventory statuses and  batch disposition codes,

I did some tests and I have the impression that I could have within the same batch several stock statuses,

Who has the superiority on the other?

Thanks for your explanations.

regards,

    Hello Said,

The Batch Disposition code is assigned at batch level.  It allows to control if the batch can be reserved, picked and shipped for various documents or transactions.   But it applies to inventory for the whole batch.  Batch disposition codes are not available for items that have Tracking Dimension that does not include <batch>

Inventory Status is not batch dependant. It is a Storage dimension just like Site, Warehouse, Location and License Plate.  It is more granular than location.  So you could have part of a batch that has status <On hold> (eg the packaging was damaged on that specific pallet) and the rest with status <Available>.  Because the Inventory Status is part of the Reservation Hierarchy, if Sales Order line is looking for a specific Inventory Status, stock that has a different status will not be considered for reservation.
