BPM Libraries in Microsoft Lifecycle Services

Dear All,

Can you please guide me if functional consultants are still using BPM libraries and its features (available in Microsoft Lifecycle Services) to document requirements? or are they using Microsoft Azure DevOps now?
 
What is the latest and recommended way of documenting requiremnts for an implementation project?

    Microsoft does not have a single guidance here. Every partner has its own methodology. Microsoft provided LCS content based on APQC, but I never used that myself for an implementation. This can be used to discuss the processes with a customer and perform a fit/gap analysis. Business process modeler (BPM) in Lifecycle Services (LCS) - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
     
     
    Note that some customers already have documented all their processes in another BPM tool. Depending on the software they used, it would be possible to get it in DevOps or not.

    Thank you for your reply.

    My requirements are as follows:
     
    Requirement 1) Document as-is process of customer and link them with Azure DevOps
     
    I have two options in mind 
     
    Option 1: Use BPM libraries in LCS and link them to Azure DevOps. Question is, is this a recommended approach by Microsoft or is it an overkill? BPM libraries in LCS are not updated either.
     
    Option 2: Document as-in process in Azure DevOps. Quesiton is if I use Azure DevOps, what is the recommended way of documenting business processes in ADO? Should I create a new Work Item Type and link it with Requirements (Work Item Type)
     
    Requirement 2) How should I document to-be processes? Microsoft Visio or Microsoft Azure DevOps?
     
    In short, I want to follow Microsoft's recommended way of doing this.

    Can you tell the background of this question? Some partners and customers did use BPM in LCS, but not everyone. During the years, some BPM related features got deprecated, leaving the tool with less value. DevOps is used to track development work items and test cases. You can sync the LCS BPM with DevOps, but do you want to maintain a BPM in LCS and have this same structure in DevOps? That is something that needs to be evaluated per customer environment.

    BMP is still an available approach, but Microsoft Azure DevOps will be phased in as well.
