Hi Experts,

I would like to know about Steps involved in Deploying ISV Solution in New Dev-Box.

I'm acquiring latest version 10.x of Tier 1 Dev-Box. We have newer version of ISV solution from Partner without overlayered.

They were given newer version of files, PFA.

1. AXDeployableRuntime_7.0.5493.35497_10.0.240.20203101
2. AXModelSource_7.0.5493.35497_10.0.240.20203101
3. keys

I would like install this in New Dev-Box. Could any one please advice on how to deploy these files in New Dev-Box Via LCS. (Like Step by Step guide)

Thanks in advance and Be Safe.

    • ISV was disabled from the UI: ISV License code removed from Sysconfig table. We identified that the DataUpgrade package reset the License code values in the Sysconfig table. This is likely to be related to the remark that can be found in the Self-Service upgrade article:

Solution. including changing the ISV license code/metadata, during upgrade is strictly not supported. If you are installing a new ISV solution or removing an existing ISV solution, you should do this before or after your upgrade. It cannot be performed during self-service upgrade.

Yes you are correct. I did same thing in Development Environment. Thanks for final solution Nikolaos.

In database upgrade you take the database from older D365 system, then run some scripts and start using it in a new D365 system / version.

The license is stored in the database.

So, in this case, for Prod upgrade, I guess you need to apply the ISV license as a separate deployable package after the upgrade.

    Thanks Nikolaos for suggestions.

I have tried both ways in UAT like keeping license file under AOSService/Scripts/License folder in deployable package and Making single package my custom customizations with ISV and ISV licenese file.

but unfortunately Both did not enabled the ISV solution in UAT because after applying package I had to run the database upgrade.

Many times I rollbacked database upgrade in UAT and tried above solutions.

To me it seems that you have a new version of the ISV solution, and you need a new license for that version (compared to the old version).

So, just make sure that you include the new ISV license in the deployable package that contains the new ISV version (put it in the AOSService/Scripts/License folder). Then the new license will be installed together with the new ISV version.

Updating your D365 system to OneVersion doesn't seem directly related to this at all. Even if in the reality you need to update D365 and the ISV solution at the same time. But the key is to install the new ISV and new license file together.

    Hi Nikolaos,

    Thanks for prompt reply.

Main Issue here is ISV solution gone missing after Database upgrade in UAT and DEV.

In DEV I had reapplied the ISV license code package from LCS after database upgrade and ISV solution is enabled. ISV solution started working as expected.

In UAT I didn't have option to apply updates in LCS after database upgrade. so I had investigated and found that SQL server SYSCONFIG table having old license code values i.e. not new values which is ISV partner given latest license codes for oneversion.

So I have cross checked SYSCONFIG  with DEV and UAT but both are different. DEV have newer license code values in the SYSCONFIG and UAT had old values like older version DEV.

So I have taken backup of tables and changed the values from old to new in UAT and ISV solution is enabled.

ISV solution started working as expected in UAT.

In DEV I had option for apply updates option after database upgrade so that i can enable the ISV but In UAT I did not have that option because of this i had go for sql backend work.

    1. Will it be any option for Apply updates ISV license code via LCS after Database upgrade in Production so that i can easily enable the ISV solution?

    2. If X++ code solution means I have to apply package in production after upgrade right?

    Kindly advice.

    1. Yes. You can deploy code to prod system any time you wish.

    2. What exactly is your "SQL backend task"? You can't do any changes directly in the database (Microsoft will not change the production environment like that), so you have to redesign your solution. If you need some external components in your ISV solution, you have to host them (for example in your Azure subscription). If you need to change some data in the database, you have to do that via normal x++ code.

    Hi Nikolaos,

Hope you are doing well and safe.

We have completed Development and Sandbox Environment (UAT) upgrade and going production OneVersion live soon.

    I have below doubts,

    1. I wanted to check with you that whether production upgrade can go in Saturday and Sunday?

    2. There is technical SQL backend task has to be done to enable the ISV solution after database upgrade which we did in Sandbox Environment (UAT) to enable ISV solution.

Will DSE accept the SQL backend request to enable ISV solution?

Will DSE team be working in weekend?

    Kindly advice on climax scenes.

    Thanks in advance.
