Documentation for Dynamics 365 marketing interaction types

Hello community,

I am looking for a documentation on the various marketing interaction types that are available in Dynamics 365 Marketing application.

I want to use some of these interaction types for building various Marketing segments where I would need to exclude some contacts that are already in the middle of a Customer Journey or if some of these are already processed by a Customer Journey, etc, but I am not sure when some of these interaction records created so that I can use for the specified scenarios.

While most of the interaction types (Email Sent, Email Clicked, Email delivered etc) are self-explanatory, there are other interaction types (like Activity Contact Dispatched, Activity Contact Expired, Activity contact processing failed, Create activity contact processed, Pass through activity contact processed, Email blocked by activity expiration, etc.) where I am unable to understand when those would be created.

I was only able to find the list of interaction types and the schema of those interactions but no detail on when those interaction types are created and what is their typical usage.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/common-data-model/schema/core/applicationcommon/foundationcommon/crmcommon/solutions/marketing/interactions/overview

https://github.com/microsoft/CDM/tree/master/schemaDocuments/core/applicationCommon/foundationCommon/crmCommon/solutions/marketing/interactions

If someone has any information on these interaction types or any pointers towards a documentation, kindly share those.  Really appreciate any help here.

Regards,

Palani Babu

    Hi Hari,

Thank you for your reply.  I have already looked at the information available in the documentation link you provided.

It doesn't cover details about when the particular interaction record is created.  I am looking for details on when each of the below interaction records are created by the Marketing application.

    Activity Contact Dispatched

    Activity Contact Expired

    Activity contact processing failed

    Create activity contact processed

    Pass through activity contact processed

Email blocked by activity expiration, etc.

    Regards,

    Palani K.B.

    Hi Steve,

Thank you for sharing the above links.  Those are really helpful.

However, I am still unsuccessfully searching for a documentation on the specific interactions like Activity Contact Dispatched, Activity Contact Expired, Activity contact processing failed, Create activity contact processed, Pass through activity contact processed, Email blocked by activity expiration, etc.

If you have come across a documentation on the above interaction types or if you have an idea on when each of those are created, request you to please share them as well.

    Regards,

    Palani Babu
