Update records using GUID without Advanced Find Export

Hi Team,

I would like to ask is there any new update introduced by Microsoft where we can update records using only GUID and without using exported records from CRM.

I know the process of update where we can export records using Advanced Find and then make changes in file and upload, system will update records using GUID.

My Scenario is:

1. I import 500 records of Accounts in System.

2. From Third Party i got Email ID and then i will key in Email ID in same import file i used for creation

3. My Expectation is - I will use the GUID and would like to use same file to update.(GUID i can get by exported client data and apply lookup)

Please suggest.

I know we can use alternate key as well to update directly but in my account i dnt have any unique field which i can make as Alternate key.

Thank you in Advance:

Preeti

    Hi Preeti,

Since besides the data, the import file will also contain many things that cannot be seen directly, such as the relationships between entities, etc., a self-created Excel cannot be mapped.

Please navigate to Advanced Settings > Settings > Data Management and click Templates for Data Import.

Select Account entity and download the template.

Paste the GUID and other data you'd like to update into the template and save.

    Then import it from here:

The template will contains the custom fields also.

    Hi Nya,

Yes,  Why we have to always refer to original file exported from CRM for update.

Why we cannot paste first 3 columns in different Excel and perform Import?

    Thank you:

    Hi Preeti,

Do you mean the following columns by "first 3 columns"?

    Hi Nya,

I have not worked on Power Automate yet.

Can you guide of there is any provision from CRM Interface directly.

Also, can you clarify why we need to use  Excel exported from system always to import.

If we use first 3 columns same in another file why it doesn't work.

    Thank you:

    Preeti

    Hi Preeti,

If you're familiar with Power Automate, you can try to create an Instant cloud flow to achieve your request.

And as there are 500 records, you can save them in an excel.

Power Automate can access it and the GUID value can be passed into the update step in the above screenshot.
