Hide data of account number field to show XXXXXXXX

Hi,

There is a requirement for a client which i am working on to hide the account numbers in the text field by XXXXXXX on the view and in the form as well.

So if the account number is 123456789, it should be showing as XXXXXX789 (show just last 3/4 digits) on the form.

Is there a way to achieve this in CRM Online 9.0 ?

    Hi,

Can you go to below link and download zorro_masked_input_managed.zip then try to install this solution on your crm instance.

    github.com/.../releases

I just tried it in my trial instance and it worked fine.

When i try to import the solution, i get the below error

    2260.error.png

Seems that [Content_Types].xml is missing from the solution

    Hi,

First of all I am extremly sorry I clicked reported as abusive to your comment by mistake.

Yes, I agree with you this will only work on form not on view.

    Bipin,

Thanks for mentioning that control but it doesn't resolve the requirement with hiding of the data in grids.

    Hi,

check below PCF control which can be used to mask input feld.

    github.com/.../zorro-masked-input

Download managed solution from github in your crm environment and change field property to use pcf control.

See sample definition available on git hub to get started.

There is no inbuilt feature that implements your requirement. That's why I suggested to use additional field + plugin + FLS that covers your scenario for 100%.

    Good luck.

Right.,.. Its a workaround but still it does not solve my issue of showing the values partially. Like showing the last 3 digits of account number only.

Is there any in-built feature that i can use for this? Or it needs custom development only?

    Thanks!

I haven't implemented it personally so I would say you can create additional field to store "blurred" value and populate that field in the plugin from the field that will contain the "real" value. To protect the "real" value you will have to anyway use Field Level Security.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the reply.

I do know about the Field Security rules. But the requirement is to show it partially masked for all the users. This should be on the form and the view as well.

Do you know about any custom way to do this?

    Hello,

You should check Field Level Security - docs.microsoft.com/.../field-level-security but it will either show all of data or hide all of data.

If you want to implement partial visibility you will have to write the code in order to implement this.
