Data Migration from one environment to another

Hi,

I have an issue that is going to require me to migrate all of my Dynamics CE data from one environment to another, to fix an issue with customisation solution organisation.

Can anyone suggest the best way of doing this and how to ensure that migrated records maintain their owner between environments?

Data Transporter in XRMToolbox looks like it could do some work here but I need to ensure the owner of each records remains.

How do I go about ensuring users are in the new environment being migrated to with the same system user GUIDs?

Thanks in advance

    Hey!

If both environments are online, you can perform a copy from one of them to the other, This would overwrite the entire target environmen and replace it with a full copy of the source.

You might also use ConfigurationMigration, which is a tool developed by microsoft that allows exporting small datasets docs.microsoft.com/.../manage-configuration-data.  This basically generates a small xml with the schema and another XML with the data (following the schema).

The best advise on this scenario is: create a third "LAB" environment. Export the data/Configuration from the source (using whatever tool you want to use) and then import it into the LAB environment.  Check for possible outcomes (Ownership of records, createdDate, triggering workflows, etc.)

Is this for online or on premise D365?  If on premise, are both of these organizations in the same deployment?  Is the other environment new or does it contain data already?
