Delete not yet acquired fixed asset from D365 fixed asset master

Hello,

We are trying to delete a set of fixed assets that with the status of 'Not yet acquired' from the D365 system.

We have confrimed that none of these fixed assets have any posted transactions.

When we tried to delete the fixed assets, the following error messages popped up.

2022_2D00_09_2D00_08_5F00_15_2D00_00_2D00_28.jpg

2022_2D00_09_2D00_08_5F00_15_2D00_01_2D00_25.jpg

However, the user confrimed that they have tried to scrap these fixed assets by creating a fixed asset scrap journal using these fixed assets.

Since the Rec IDs related to the fixed assets are stored in the DimensionAttributeValue table, I tried to tick the 'IsDeleted' box before trying to delete the fixed asset from the fixed asset master. But the box 'IsDeleted' seems not clickable.

Does anyone know how to tick the 'IsDeleted' box in the DimensionAttributeValue table or any other way to delete the fixed assets which do not have any posted transactions?

Thank you!

    Billur Samdancioglu,

    Thank you for your suggestion.

Since these fixed assets were migrated from AX 2009 the number format is different from D365.

These old fixed assets have the year included in the fixed asset number.

    Ex: XX2019-XXXXXXX

So it can make confusion when using those old FA numbers to manage new fixed assets.

As a workaround, You may change the description of the asset and use it as a new asset?

    Hi Frank Hamelly,

    Thank you for your advice.

I will try a few more methods and open a Microsoft ticket if I fail to find a solution.

    Hi Billur Samdancioglu,

    Yes agree with you.

But these fixed assets have been migrated from their previous system which is not used for about 4 years and still stay with the 'not yet acquired' status. So they want to delete them from the current system.

    Hi Ramit Paul,

    Thank you for your reply.

Currently, these fixed assets are not used in any journal.

But the user has tried to create one journal using them and has deleted the journal without posting it.

Regarding the 'IsDeleted', yes this is available in the table browser as a field.

    Hi Saurabh Bharati,

    Thank you for your reply.

I tried these 2 methods before posting this question here. But I got the same error even after deleting the fixed asset's financial dimension values and after deleting the fixed asset book.

Sage advice, which I would normally agree with, but in the case of deleting records from the DimensionValue tables, I've done this many times with no detrimental effect because the number of tables where these values are stored is limited to just 2.

If you don't have resources available to write and execute the X++ script, open a Microsoft ticket.  They might be willing to do it for you.

I would advise not to delete any data in the system which you cant do from the forms.

Table browser doesn't support editing - it's View only, hence why you can't tick the box.

If this is a production environment where you have no access to the server, you'll need an X++ job to delete the record from DimensionAttributeValue table.  There's a second table, I think it's DimensionAttributeValueSet, but my memory isn't 100% on the table name, that the dimension value will need to be deleted from also.

    Hi,

It is not always neccesary that a transaction is posted. Can bu used and selected in a journal once.
