exporting to excel chooses wrong license in excel

Posted on by 1
I have a user who has MS Office 365 installed on their computers. Let’s say the ID that shows up when you open Excel is user1. When they log into MS NAV they log in as Joe. When I export or send to Excel it opens Excel and wants to use the account of Joe which does not have an office license. Usually, it will just open Excel using whatever license has
been authenticated on that PC. We use Nav 2016 and Office 365. How do I get it to stop trying to use the Joe account in Excel?

Hi, I think this is by design. When the user logs into NAV and opens Excel, their account is used by default.
However, by using the Business Central add-in for Excel, users can use their Business Central username and password to edit and view data in Excel without an additional Office license.
