Hello Everyone,

In MS Project we do have few capabilities like set Baseline Project to Project schedule which I guess mainly for capturing Initial schedule dates and compare it with dates when project task is initiated and it also allows them to re-baseline multiple tasks at the same time.

Is there any way we can have this option on Project Operations or some workaround that can achieve similar functionality? Is there any post where Microsoft explains these types of limitations if it is not part of the system?

Hi Harshil Shah. Unfortunately baselines and snapshots are not supported OOTB in Project for the web and for that matter not in ProjOps either. I recommend you to vote up the following idea on UserVoice for Project for the web:

Hi Harshil,

So if I understand the requirement you have a process where a project schedule is originally baselined, then there could be amendments to this as it passes through the planning phase and then finally the project begins and the actuals are then compared to baseline and amended estimates?

I ran a quick test in my system (resource/non stock scenario) and anytime you amend the dates on a project task the estimates in Proj Ops and F&O are amended to reflect the new position and the historical data is lost.

If your requirement is as above I don't see a way you can do this currently in Project Operations(resource/non-stock) without capturing the estimate data at various points. i.e create a new table in dataverse for the data capture and create a flow with a trigger (manual/automated?) to capture the estimate data which you can then use for comparison.

Standard PMA in F&O (Proj Ops for stocked/production based scenarios) you have the ability create multiple forecasts(estimates) for various purposes (e.g. original, revised) and then reforecast throughout the lifecycle of the project with the ability to report against any of the forecasts. In addition there is project budget and budget revision functionality.

Hello Mark,

I reviewed those MS Docs and I also understand the process of scheduling, estimates, and tracking in project operations but, We need some functionality that can capture original scheduled dates(baseline start/finish) and Project scheduled dates & actual start/finish dates and also capability to update on multiple tasks.

Hi AJ,

Please review the project management section on MS Docs for PRoject Operations. This will run through WBS planning, financial estimates and project tracking for Project Operations. Also the functioanlity here will be improved when the feature for project budgets (F&O functionality) is also introduced.

Hi all

Just wondering how we can baseline and re-baseline a schedule in Project Ops? Seems a pretty simple concept, but cannot find where to do so

I would start by reviewing the MS Docs pages for Project management for Project Operations. This will give you a good overview of the scheduling, estimate and tracking processes in Project Operations.
