Hello All! Looking for pros and cons of TS and WC for current version of GP. We are leaning towards TS as we will have full functionality with 3rd party apps, however, we've not totally ruled out Web Services. Thank you in advance for your input! download facetime
Hi Michael
Other than some products/functionality will not work on the web client, you will also not be able to any VBA code or any VSTools code that has WinForms or .Net dialogs.
Also, you should user acceptance test the Web Client. Most of the keyboard shortcuts will not work and you can only have one window in focus at a time. You cannot have two windows side by side.
You might find that your users who are used to the full desktop experience will not accept the limitations of the web client.
Finally, if you are going to a TS based on Windows Server 2019, VBA will not work and is "End of Life".
I suggest using GP Power Tools to replace the VBA in your system, it has many benefits on top of being a better development environment.

Like you mentioned, with Dynamics GP on a terminal server environment, you would have full functionality including the use of VBA, which Web Client does not work with, and all 3rd party apps.
Also with Web Client, you can only have one window open at a time, that is something most users don't like as they're used to having multiple GP windows open at one time.
You can actually have both setup at the same time, if you wanted to test with your actual users and processing.
Thanks,
