Sales order line reservation not available

Hi,

I am trying to reserve an item so that I can release it to the warehouse, but the reservation field is greyed out.

Am I missing some parameter setup or config anywhere? Reservation is set to automatic for sales orders, but this did not help.

I have inventory available for the item I'm trying to reserve.

I am simply an idiot... I created the sales order with an order type "Journal" instead of "Sales order". Creating a sales order now automatically reserves inventory. Thank you for your help, Hana!

    Hi Hana,

Thank you for your reply! I have looked at what you suggested and here is what I have:

    Insufficient inventory availability:
I do have sufficient inventory, so I don't think that is the issue.
    Delivery date:
Regarding the delivery date I don't think this applies as I have no incoming orders of this item.

Parameter setup and inventory reservation setup:
This is what I have set up for my entity. I want automatic reservation to happen, but that is not working either. From previous experience I have seen that manual reservation is available even if automatic reservation is enabled. I.e. if there is insufficient inventory, auto reservation fails, but you can then update inventory and perform a manual reservation afterwards.

Am I missing something here? Might I have forgotten some setup anywhere?

    Hi,
If you're trying to reserve an item and the reservation field is greyed out, there could be several reasons:
    Insufficient Inventory Availability:
Ensure that there is sufficient inventory available for the item you are trying to reserve. If there is not enough inventory, the system may not allow you to manually reserve the item.
    Delivery Date:
Check the delivery date for the sales order line item. If the delivery date is after the supply date for the inventory item, the system may prevent manual reservation.
    Parameter Setup:
Ensure that the parameter setup for your sales order type or item category is correct. In D365 F&O, you can configure different reservation rules for different sales order types or item categories.
    Inventory Reservations Settings:
Verify that the inventory reservations settings are correct. You may need to check the inventory reservations setup for the sales order line item to ensure that it allows manual reservation.
    Hope these will be helpful.
    Best Regards,
    Hana
