Web Client is prompting for login credentials

SYMPTOM:

When trying to login to BC using Windows Authentication using the server name it keeps asking for the user name and password

But when login in with the IP address it is working fine.

Cause:

Two possible mitigations:

  1. Missing reg key BackConnectionHostNames, restart (Error message when you try to access a server locally by using its FQDN or its CNAME alias after you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 - Windows Server | Microsoft Docs)
  2. In IIS you changed from negotiation & NTLM to only NTLM
    1. In IIS Manager
    2. Select your site (BC)
    3. Click on the Authentication module
    4. Select Windows Authentication
    5. Select Providers...
