legitimate email addresses returning as Hard Bounced

Hi, when checking emails we are experiencing that quite a lot are being shown as hard-bounced. However, when checking with the contacts we are seeing that they are valid and we can send email correspondances directly to them via 365 sales. Both our 365 marketing emails and our normal day to day business emails use the same domain for sending.

Any idea as to why these are being hard-bouced and what we can do to fix this?

RE: legitimate email addresses returning as Hard Bounced

    Hi Chris,

Have you checked if there is any soft bounces to these contacts?

A soft bounce occurs when an email is sent to a valid server, which recognizes the user, but which still rejects the message for some reason. A soft bounce may occur because the recipient's mailbox is full, the mail server is temporarily unavailable, or the email account has been closed.

If five messages in a row sent to a given address result in a soft bounce, then Marketing will treat that address as a hard-bouncing address and stop trying to send to it.
