Manufacturing - how to undo a finished production order

Posted on by 5,122

Is there a quick way to undo a finished production order?  We have a production order that was accidentally changed to finished w/o finishing the consumption.  How can we change the status to release so we can finish the consumption?

Manufacturing - how to undo a finished production order

It is a good idea to use the revaluation journal, but it requires having the correct quantity in inventory to adjust this specific entry. If the necessary quantities are not available, this option will not be feasible.

Regarding your question about undoing a finished production order:

Unfortunately, there isn't a straightforward way to directly change the status of a finished production order back to released in order to complete the consumption. However, you can follow these steps to address the issue:

    1. Reverse the Production Order Completion:

      • Create a new production order to reflect the reversal of the incorrect completion.
      • Ensure that the quantities and items are the same as in the finished production order.
    2. Adjust Inventory:

      • Use inventory adjustment transactions to correct any discrepancies caused by the premature completion of the production order.
      • Make sure the inventory quantities reflect the actual physical stock accurately.
    3. Reprocess the Production Order:

      • Create a new production order to accurately reflect the production process.
      • Complete the consumption and other necessary steps before marking the production order as finished.

While these steps are more involved, they ensure that your inventory and production records remain accurate and consistent. If you need more detailed guidance,

RE: Manufacturing - how to undo a finished production order

    Hi Alex,

We tried but the problem is you can't consume the prod order when status=Finished.  It will only allow consumption for Prod Order <> Finished. We inadvertently changed the status of a released prod order into finished without consuming from consumption journal.  So the link I mentioned allows us to change the status of a finished prod order to released.  Of course, one has to take cautions because if it's partially consumed, it could cost problems with accounting.    It just needs a little bit more work to get us what we need.

The only problem with below link is that we will lose links to ILE and other related tables  since below mod creates a new production order no.  So please be careful using below mod.

    Hello,

You don't need to change the status back. You can use the Consumption Journal to record the consumption for this Production Order.

    mbr ,

this is bit of advance ,

this thing might be vary on your related item on Assembly : mate to order or make to stock

when it is in make to stock , your issue will not a problem until it not allocated to any other entries you can undo order (there is a button on assembly order as "undo")

then other thing is if the manufactured item already have some transaction details Eg: sales order/Transfer order then you cannot do it

you can use return order correct it

there is no standard way in nav to correct that.

you can use item journal to correct the item consumption.
